Building Your Race Calendar
Table of Contents
I’m not racing every weekend, but I try to keep busy. In the summer I swim every Saturday with LOST, I tried to do some sprint triathlons; there’s the Lost Mile; and then in the fall I’ll try to run some road races as well. It all depends on schedules and which injury I’m currently nursing, but I do like to throw in some smaller, local events as well. You kind of have to keep your ear to the ground to find out about them and then you have to remember not to forget them.
Races can be hard to track because they might be listed on one of many ticket selling platforms or even smaller, grassroots events that only really exist on Facebook or Instagram. So you’ve got to look in a lot of different places and assemble a calendar manually. There wasn’t really a good place to find all the races I cared about and then manage your calendar in the same place.
So I built My Mind is Racing to allow you to search events quickly and then add them to your calendar. You can then sync the calendar with all of your devices and now all the events you care about live in one calendar.
I’ve been using the calendar for my own race and workout schedule this past summer and it has been a real pleasure to use. Having all of my races in one place makes it much easier for me to keep an overview of what I have going on. Also, if I need to travel and I want to attend an event in that new location, it’s trivial for me to look up what’s going on in the other location and add that to my calendar as well.

#Find the races
Search by exact location, by what’s nearby, or even just by name. Optionally filter your results with sport and distance tags.
For example:
- Events in Spain
- Events in Illinois
- Events in Barcelona
- parkrun in Berlin
- Events near Freiburg
- 5k events near Freiburg
#Star what you like
If you see an event you’d like to add to your calendar, you simply need to click on the star button next to it. You’ll need to be logged in for this, but creating an account and logging in is very fast.
#Get it into your own calendar
To see your starred events, go to https://mymindisracing.com/calendar or click on your name in the top menu and then select “Calendar”. You’ll then have the option of seeing your events in list or calendar view. Click “Connect My Calendar” to get to a page with your iCal feed URL. This is what you’ll add to your devices and your events will sync immediately.
#Add a missing race
If you don’t see a race you’re interested in, you can submit it to the index. My Mind is Racing is more like Wikipedia than Google. Just submit any events you’d like to see added and it should appear within the next 24 hours. The moderation queue is fast.
